Died of Typhus in Vich hospital. 57 Bon, 4 Cia. (SC/IBA/5/1/5/1-3) [From Barry MacLoughlin: Arrested at the docks in Barcelona 22.05.1938, sent to brigade jail, then Castelldefels. Due to be repatriated in September 1938, died from typhoid in hospital at Vich 10 October 1938] Although it appears definitive that he died in Spain, Special Branch have an unexplained entry (KV/5/112/K) for a Thomas Alexander Kerr "?Lisburn, Co Down. Returned from fighting in Spain" dated 7/10/38.
