Comments: Former RAF pilot. Left Victoria Station, London, on 31 August 1936 with three other pilots to join the Spanish Republican Airforce. Was flying a Nieuport Ni-D52 escorting bombers on a raid on the Toledo front when attacked by a flight of fascist Fiat or Heinkel fighters. Shot down from 8,000 feet.
