Remembering Spain

£17.00

The IBMT's anthology of memoirs, essays and poems from the pages of the Trust’s magazine over the past 20 years.

Edited by Joshua Newmark and generously illustrated, ‘Remembering Spain’ features contributions from more than 50 authors. They include historians Richard Baxell, Helen Graham, Angela Jackson, Paul Preston and Peter Anderson, who provides a preface.

Among the Brigaders whose pieces appear in the book are Bill Alexander, Bob Cooney, John Dunlop, Steve Fullarton, Sam Lesser, Jimmy Moon and Margaret Powell.

Several chapters are written by known figures such as Irish President Michael D Higgins, political commentators Owen Jones and John Pilger, and film director Ken Loach.

Overall, the collection explores different aspects of British and Irish solidarity with Spanish democracy and the fight against fascism during the Spanish Civil War, along with the legacy of that struggle up to the present day. It brings together first-hand accounts and contributions from historians, writers, poets and International Brigade enthusiasts.
