Watch the IBMT Online Conversation 2022

The IBMT Online Conversation event, which took place last Saturday via Zoom, is now available to stream on the IBMT’s YouTube page here.

The talk featured leading historians of 20th century Spain, Professors Paul Preston and Helen Graham, discussing Britain's policy towards the Spanish Republic and its consequences for Europe and the coming world war.

Preston emphasised the importance of the discussion with his opening remarks. He said: 'Historians have completely ignored the fact that the decisive things that were happening in the run-up to the Second World War were actually happening in Spain.'

Dr Richard Baxell, IBMT Historical Consultant and historian of the British volunteers, chaired the discussion. Baxell reserved a section of the talk for the audience to put questions before the historians, who were then able to explore their ideas in greater detail.
