New EC members elected at AGM

Post date: 11/10/2019

Two new members, and one returning member, were elected to the Executive Committee of the IBMT at the Annual General Meeting held on 5 October in London.

David McKnight has been elected to the Executive Committee for the first time. He will serve for three years and has been appointed by the EC to be the IBMT’s Wales Secretary. He is from Llangollen and is a full-time official for Unison.

Also newly elected is Jonathon Havard, who will be an EC member for one year, replacing Mary Greening, former Wales Secretary, who has retired from the Executive Committee a year before the end of her term of office. Jonathon lives in Essex and is a former National Secretary of the maritime trade union Nautilus International.

Mike Arnott has also been elected back onto the EC after a one-year gap and retains his position of IBMT Scotland Secretary. Mike is based in Dundee, where he is Secretary of the local Trades Union Council and is a GMB shop steward.

Both Jim Jump and Megan Dobney were re-elected at the AGM and have been appointed by the EC to continue in the positions of Chair and Secretary respectively.

Our previous Treasurer, Manuel Moreno, stepped down in the summer on health grounds. The Executive has yet to choose a successor, and for the time being the Officers (President, Chair and Secretary) will execute the responsibilities of the Treasurer.

The complete and up-to-date list of all of our Executive Committee (past and present) can be found here.
