Post date: 02/05/2016

Highlights of the commemorative events at the IBMT Annual General Meeting in October 2015 in Aberdeen have been compiled on film by the IBMT Film Coordinator Marshall Mateer.

The film includes: the welcome in Aberdeen Town House by Councillor Neil Cooney; the unveiling of plaques to volunteers Bob Cooney and John Londragan; Bob Cooney's poem 'Hasta La Vista Madrid' and songs; greetings from Russia; blessing of a replica of a Spanish Republican flag that was used as a shroud for the bodies of Archie Dewar and Tom Robinson and a reading of the names of all the Aberdeen volunteers in the Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting; the grand parade through Aberdeen led by Grampian District Pipes and Drums finishing at Castlegate, where in the 1930s the people of Aberdeen faced down Mosley's fascist supporters.

Forty-three images with notes of the weekend are also on the IBMT Flickr page:https://www.flickr.com/photos/ibmt/al...
