After 3 months in hospital joined 20th Btln of 86th Brigade at Cordoba, where he was wounded once again. Suffered from perforated eardrums, but initially refused to be repatriated. "Good comrade".
According to SB he founded a Trotskyist group in Belfast in 1939, and in 1943 was a "prominent member of the RCP" in the city.
