Issue 1-2023 of the IBMT magazine ¡No Pasaran! went out to members last week. The cover story is an interview with artist Josh Knowles discussing his upcoming graphic novel about his International Brigader grandfather Les Starr. The covert art by Knowles is a preview of the dynamic cartoon style he is using to tell Starr's story.
The theme of illustrating the history of the International Brigades recurs in this issue with a review of the Spanish Civil War graphic novel, '¡Brigadistas! An American Anti-Fascist in the Spanish Civil War'.
Other highlights include Richard Baxell telling the story of a less-remembered International Brigade commander, Lewish Ashworth on the connections between Pendle and the anti-fascist struggle in Spain, Janette Higgins touring Spain sharing the story of her Brigader father and much more, including poetry and reviews.
