IBMT President Marlene Sidaway writes...

I want to thank all of our members who have continued to support and work for the IBMT during the past year. You will have read in our excellent ¡No Pasarán! and IBMT eNewsletter about most of the usual gatherings we have still managed to hold, whether online or socially distanced.

Many of you have raised money specifically for the Trust and also to fund new or refurbished memorials. We held two AGMs – the first, postponed from 2020 was online, the second in Southampton – and drew members from all parts of the country. The London Jubilee Gardens event was socially distanced and numbers were limited, but was filmed and made available online. It was here that the new IBMT Welsh banner was unveiled. Our merchandise has continued to sell well, with new items on offer. Importantly, we have secured funding for a teaching project aimed at secondary schools.

All this has been achieved in a very difficult year by the hard work and dedication of our members and the officers of the Trust. Thanks to you all, the IBMT is in a good place. We can continue our work of remembering the International Brigaders and make sure their example is carried on to future generations.

New year greetings to all IBMT members and to our comrades in our sister organisations around the world. Thank you for your kind wishes to the IBMT and I hope you will have a happy and successful year ahead.
