The committee will serve for 12 months until the next Annual General Meeting, which is provisionally scheduled to be held in Cardiff on 14 October 2017.
Three IBMT Officers, Richard Baxell (Chair), Jim Jump (Secretary) and Manuel Moreno (Treasurer), were re-elected unopposed. Marlene Sidaway (President) does not have to stand for annual re-election.
A ballot was necessary for the remaining 11 Executive Committee member seats, with 14 candidates nominated to stand.
The result saw Nina Cunnington, from Cardiff, grand-daughter of Aberdeen International Brigader John Londragon, elected for the first time.
In addition, Marshall Mateer (IBMT Film Coordinator) and Richard Thorpe (Education Officer and Facebook Coodinator) were elected to the committee. For the past 12 months they served as co-opted members, i.e. appointed by the Executive Committee.
These three new members replace Hilary Jones, who did not stand for re-election after 12 years on the committee, and Duncan Longstaff, who failed to be re-elected after serving for the past eight years. There was a third vacancy as a result of Mick Whelan becoming an IBMT Patron earlier this year.
Following the election result, IBMT Chair Richard Baxell thanked Hilary Jones and Duncan Longstaff for their work on the Executive Committee and expressed the hope that they would continue to be involved in IBMT activties.
