Pauline Fraser reviews ‘Firing a Shot for Freedom: The Memoirs of Frida Stewart’ with foreword and afterword by Angela Jackson (The Clapton Press, 2020). This review originally appeared in ¡No Pasarán! 1-2021, published in January 2020 and available online here. ‘Firing a Shot for Freedom’ is a roller-coaster of a memoir, and while Frida’s account of her involvement in Spain is central, her eye-witness account of other historic events is likewise compelling – highly recommended.
