“Homage without Frontiers”

“Homage without Frontiers” to the International Brigades on Saturday 15 February – only on Facebook!

Join this first online homage organised by the AABI Spanish International Brigades friendship group. The aim is to bring together Facebook supporters of the International Brigades from some 40 countries – especially those unable to attend the AABI’s 7th annual Battle of Jarama commemoration (on 22 February).

The AABI hopes to bring together at least 2,000 people on Facebook on 15 February in a unique opportunity to participate with people from around the world in a tribute to the International Brigades.

Programme:

6.30pm Spanish time (one hour ahead of GMT): Screening of “19 Días. Batalla de Jarama” (directed by Miguel Ángel Nieto; in Spanish, 2004), a documentary about the battle of Jarama that includes interviews with the Irish-born Brigader Bob Doyle, Santiago Carrillo, “Rosario The Dynamiter” and historian Peter Carroll. 

7.30-8pm: Live Q&A on Facebook with the director, Miguel Angel Nieto.

8-9.30pm: Concert “Homage without Frontiers” – songs of the International Brigades, old and new; all your favourites plus a few surprises. Invited artists (TBC) include Joan Manuel Serrat, Ismael Serrano, Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Christie Moore, Billy Bragg, Manic Street Preachers, Nina Simone, Thee Faction, Marina Rossell, Nummen, Yves Montand and many more.
