International Brigade Memorial Trust
We mourn the death of Hans Landauer, the last Austrian International Brigade volunteer and member of the Ernst Thälmann Battalion in Spain. Hans died on 19 July 2014 at the age of 93. Following his return from Spain he was arrested by the Gestapo in Vienna and imprisoned at the Dachau concentration camp. and remained a lifelong anti-fascist.
