British Artists and the Spanish Civil War

Simon Martin, Artistic Director of Pallant House Gallery, tells the story of how a generation of British artists including Edward Burra, Roland Penrose and Wyndham Lewis responded to the conflict.

 

Sat 16 May 2pm – 3.45pm FREE 

To Make the People Smile Again 

BBC radio drama/documentary on the Spanish Civil War & the British Contingent of the International Brigades, including interviews with survivors. Talks by drama producer, Steve Chambers (University of Northumbria) & Martin Ellis (Zymurgy Publishing)

Picasso’s Weeping Woman in Context

Barbara Morden,  author & art historian  

 

Evening Event

Ink & drink Thursday 4 June, 6-9 pm, tickets £10. Includes entry on the day to the exhibition.

Celebrate Spanish art and culture – live music, talks, demonstrations & create your own artwork. 

 

Adult Art Classes

Saturdays, 1pm – 4pm, 3 sessions in April & May. 

£26 per session or £63 for all three, includes one entry to exhibition on the day. 

Artist-led. Art materials are provided. Booking is essential.
