Sheffield

Statue created by artist Anthony Padgett depicting a young Picasso holding a dove of peace. The statue is a tribute to peace, to Picasso (who attended the 2nd World Peace Congress in Sheffield in 1950), to the International Brigade volunteers from South Yorkshire, to the Basque children who were given sanctuary by the people of Sheffield, and to all Sheffield’s workers and citizens. Unveiled in Weston Park (Sheffield S10 2TP) on 12 April 2025 by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Jayne Dunn.

South Bank

National memorial and sculpture by Ian Walters in Jubilee Gardens, SE1, to the 526 killed in Spanish Civil War who went to Spain from Britain and Ireland. Erected by Greater London Council and International Brigade Association and unveiled by Michael Foot MP, 5 October 1985. Moved to new site in the park in April 2012. Plaque in front of memorial unveiled by David Lomon, 7 July 2012.

Memorial and plaque dedicated to the eight International Brigaders from Stockton-on-Tees: George Bright, William Carson, Wilfred Cowan, Otto Estensen, Myles Harding, Johnny Longstaff, Patrick Maroney and Bert Overton. Features a reproduction of Picasso's 'Guernica' with volunteers' names around it. Installed after a fundraising campaign led by John Christie and Stockton supporters and unveiled on 16 September 2022. 1 Wasp Nest Yard, Stockton-on-Tees TS18 1TA.

Unveiled on 16 November 2023. It replaces a plaque that was raised shortly after his death, but has since been lost.
