9 February: Unveiling of plaque in Beeston for Nan Green

9 February BEESTON – Unveiling of a blue plaque for International Brigader Nan Green at 12pm at Surrey Cottage, 12 Glebe Street, Beeston NG9 1BZ, where she was born (née Farrow) in 1904. Assemble on corner of Glebe Street and Elm Avenue. Green served in Spain for 15 months – where she was widowed when husband George was killed fighting in the British Battalion – and was for many years the secretary of the International Brigade Association. There will be speeches, after which people will convene at a nearby pub. Organised by Beeston & District Civic Society.
