24 October ONLINE – The ALBA Film Series considers ‘The Spanish Earth’, (1937, Joris Ivens). The film The Spanish Earth: is a 1937 anti-fascist film made during the Spanish Civil War in support of the democratically elected Republicans. Written by John Dos Passos and Ernest Hemingway, and narrated by Orson Welles, the film was made ti support the cause of the Spanish Republic. This event is rganised by the US-based Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives. 10pm-11.15pm (5pm-6.15pm Eastern Standard Time). Discussion Leader is Jo Labanyi, Professor Emerita, New York University.
