24 September 2013 at 12 noon in Corbera, near Gandesa, on 75th anniversary of the final day of action by the British Battalion in the Battle of the Ebro, unveiling of a memorial to the battalion’s last stand. Reinstatment of Nottinghamshire International Brigades information board

An International Brigades information board that was removed by Nottinghamshire County Council in 2009 is to be re-instated on Saturday 27 July between 10.30am-12noon at County Hall, Loughborough Road, Nottingham NG2 7QP.

The board was removed after the Conservatives won the 2009 county council elections. Labour regained control of the council in May this year and immediately announced that the board would be restored to its place in front of a plaque to the volunteers from  Nottinghamshire that was unveiled in 1993 by Jack Jones and Spanish ambassador Alberto Aza.

Speaker Ciaran Crossey, chair of the IBCC, will explore the contribution of the International Brigaders from the Belfast area and beyond who fought against the fascists in the Battle of the Ebro.
