‘Shooting with Light’ is a new production by Idle Motion theatre company that tells the story of exiled German photographer Gerda Taro, who was killed during the Battle of Brunete in July 1937. Taro was a supporter of the Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War and her work covering the conflict helped transform the nature of war photography.

7 February: There will be a book launch of ‘Fighting for Republican Spain: Frank Ryan and the Volunteers from Limerick in the International Brigades’ by Barry McLoughlin upstairs at Sandino’s Bar and Café, Water St, Derry BT48 6BQ, on Saturday 7 February at 2pm. Organised by the North West Spanish Civil War Project.

The anniversary of the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic will be marked by the IBMT at the International Brigade memorial, Jubilee Gardens, South Bank, London SE1 at an informal gathering at 12 noon. Flowers will be laid.
