The IBMT’s Annual General Meeting takes place from 2.30pm-5pm on Saturday 17 October at the Aberdeen Town House, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AQ, as part of a weekend of events in the city to commemorate the International Brigades.

This year’s annual commemoration at the International Brigade memorial, Jubilee Gardens, South Bank, London SE1 8XX takes place from 1pm-2pm (assemble from 12.30pm). Speakers include Owen Jones, with music from Ewan McLennan and Karl Lewkowitz and poetry from Francesca Beard. Bring union and other banners.

The UK premiere ‘María Querida’ (2004), a film by José Luis García Sánchez with English subtitles about memory and the Francoist repression of Republican schoolteachers, forms part of London Socialist Film Cooperative’s 2015 season; 11am at Bolivar Hall, 54 Grafton Way, London WC1 4PZ; followed by panel discussion; £10 (£8 concessions);
