Nominate an activist or organisation for the 2018 ALBA/Puffin Award for Human Rights Activism
The ALBA/Puffin Award for Human Rights Activism is granted on an annual basis to individuals or organisations whose work has had an exceptionally positive impact on the advancement and/or defense of human rights. The 2018 ALBA/Puffin Award for Human Rights Activism will be presented at an official ceremony in New York in the spring of 2018. A $100,000 cash award, made possible by the generosity of the Puffin Foundation, will be given to the laureate individual or organisation to support their ongoing work in the area of Human Rights Activism.

Now in its sixth year, ALBA's Impugning Impunity Human Rights Documentary Film Festival has never been more critical. The festival provokes dialogue about justice, resistance, and equality through a slate of groundbreaking new documentaries on human rights issues, post-screening Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and community talk-backs with human rights advocates and activists. Through its open call, the festival gives voice to unheard communities and filmmakers across the world.

Tell the students you know: the 2017 George Watt Prize deadline has been extend until 15 July
This annual essay competition was established in 1998 to honor Lincoln vet George Watt, a writer and lifelong activist central to the creation of ALBA.
Students from anywhere in the world are invited to submit an essay or thesis chapter about any aspect of the Spanish Civil War, the global political or cultural struggles against fascism in 1920s and 1930s, or the lifetime histories and contributions of the international volunteers who fought in support of the Spanish Republic from 1936 to 1938. The recipients will each receive a $250 award.
